Scent of olives, black celery and truffles in the rural landscapes from Trevi to Montefalco

by Laura Dominici

There is a secret Umbria that does not reveal itself immediately, but lets itself breathe through the textures of a landscape shaped by centuries. It is that strip of land that runs along the Assisi-Spoleto Olivata Belt, where agriculture becomes art and time seems to have rediscovered its balance. An itinerary that confirms itself as the destination of choice for cultured and sustainable tourism, capable of combining the rural design of the hills of Trevi with the hypogean charm of the prized black truffle between the mountains of Pigge and Montefalco. There, a special light envelops the hills, like a silvery reflection coming from the foliage of the olive trees, accompanying the traveller along an agricultural landscape that since 2018 has been included in the National Register of Historic Rural Landscapes.
