In the health sector, the White House fired Susan Monarez a few weeks after her appointment to head the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Officially, the reason for the decision was a failure to align with the administration's priorities. However, Monarez rejected this version, claiming that it was penalised for rejecting directives that were considered unscientific.

Since then, the leadership of the agency has remained unstable and still without a final appointment.
