The bike & boat route

An evocative bike & boat itinerary of 65 kilometres (45 by bike and 20 by boat) combines art, history and nature in the area located between Ferrara and the Po Delta. It starts from Ferrara, following an initial stretch by bike along beaten roads and tracks, and then continues in the direction of Voghiera and Gambalunga, where the route intersects the Delizia Estense di Belriguardo, with its splendid Sala delle Vigne (Hall of Vineyards), a testimony to Renaissance paintings, and the Delizia del Verginese, which resembles a castle. The itinerary then continues in the direction of Rovereto and Sabbioncello San Vittore until reaching Villa della Mensa. From the convenient river dock it is then possible to board the boat Nena, to return to Ferrara lulled by the waters of the Po di Volano. The route, mostly flat and on low-traffic roads, is suitable for all cyclists.
