Veneto. The ‘slow’ side of the Belluno Dolomites against the backdrop of the Tre Cime

The Three Peaks of Lavaredo are the symbol of a region that invites visitors to discover it through experiences that blend local history and culture, moving away from classic hiking routes such as the Giro delle Tre Cime or the trails in the Cadini di Misurina. The summer programme offered by the Tourist Consortium is packed with less conventional activities, including visits to the Somadida Forest, one of Italia’s oldest forest reserves, trails along the Roggia dei Mulini di Lozzo, visits to the Museum of Milk Processing, and tours dedicated to sites from the Great War. Among the most evocative experiences are the sensory ‘forest bathing’ trails in the heart of the woods, sunset hikes beneath the Tre Cime peaks during the Enrosadira festival, and evening walks steeped in fairy tales and legends along Lake Auronzo. There are also dedicated activities for families, ranging from the botanical trail to activities at educational farms, right through to the open-air exhibition ‘Auronzo Tre Cime. From dinosaurs to mammoths’, which brings artefacts and life-size reconstructions to the heart of Cadore. Among the summer’s most significant events are also the Camignada poi Siè Refuge (2 August), a historic hike linking six Dolomite mountain huts; the concert on the shores of Lake Auronzo (9 August); the traditional Wood Party with a picnic in the Val Marzon woods on 15 August and, from 1 to 5 September, the 34th Ex.
