The Milan Stock Exchange recorded another heavy loss (-6.65%) as the European sovereign debt crisis continued to deepen. Concerns focused on the ability of some countries, including Italy, to manage their debt. The lack of decisive measures at European level to contain the crisis and fears of contagion to other Eurozone economies fuelled volatility and investors' flight from markets perceived as riskier, such as Italy's.
