Classicism and contemporaneity at the Anantara Palais Hansen

The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna bears the name and stigmata of the architect who most marked Austrian history in the 19th century. Theophil von Hansen loved the classical style, the temples of ancient Athens as the nearby Parliament shows. It is precisely the long monumental façade that puts the entire Schottenring in awe, the columns, the arches that characterise the setting of the atrium, closed by a skylight towards which palm trees and transparent lifts rise. If Theo's Lounge Bar housed in the inner courtyard from which the fiakers, the carriages pulled by white horses, parade, offers international cuisine, then Edvard, a Michelin-starred restaurant with a minimalist and elegant interior design, shows off all the flair and imagination of chef Paul Gamauf, with dishes such as duck breast marinated in Shiokoji or the homemade, lightly smoked ricotta cavatelli. In the rooms, the art photographs dedicated to dancing and the monumental staircase convey the charm of Viennese culture, just as the spa area enjoys the relaxed atmosphere of the Thai brand.
