Events, castles and adventure parks in the Distretto Turistico Dei Laghi (Lake District)

For lovers of nature, cycling in the countryside and outdoor activities, the Distretto Turistico dei Laghi, Monti e Valli dell'Ossola has it all. Also for the events it proposes for travellers who choose this area for a holiday. "Musica in Quota", scheduled to run until 31 October, is a festival that brings the magic of notes to the peaks, mountain pastures and refuges of upper Piedmont, combining free concerts with exciting hikes to discover the surrounding environment. Decidedly more adrenaline-pumping is the Vertical Race scheduled at Domobianca365 (on 24 May), a race of the Skyrunner National Series circuit on a 3.5 km route with an altitude difference of 770 metres. More relaxed and immersive, on the other hand, are the visits (starting on 1 June) to the Cannero Castles in the municipality of Cannobio, reopened after years of restoration work and cradle of the remains of the fortifications owned by the Borromeo family since the mid-15th century (an interactive museum will tell the story of this site's past over the centuries). For children, finally, the attractions not to be missed among the suspended trails and ziplines are the many adventure parks in the area (such as the Praudina Adventure Park in Val Vigezzo or the Lago d'Orta Adventure Park "Le Pigne" in Ameno), while unique in its kind is the panoramic descent overlooking the lake at Alpyland, along the more than one-kilometre long bobsleigh track that descends from the summit of Mottarone.
