From Aalborg to Skagen amidst art and explosive nature

If you want to visit one of the most important exhibitions of the Nordic cultural season, you should go to northern Denmark's Aalborg to the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Alongside the permanent collection (around 1,500 works, mainly by Danish modern and contemporary artists, but also international) there is , "Late Picasso" brings together more than 60 works created in the last years of the artist's life (1960s-1970s), offering a new look at a phase that has long been underestimated but is now considered among the most innovative. Continuing in a northerly direction we reach Skagen (less than two hours by train) and then Grenen, which reserves one of Denmark's most spectacular natural experiences. Here, at the northern end of Jutland, you can admire the collision of the waves of the Skagerrak and Kattegat, where the North Sea and the Baltic Sea meet. The area consists of sand and gravel deposited by strong sea currents and, over the past 100 years, the coastline has lengthened by one kilometre. The wide beach is constantly changing and often forms lagoons that attract water birds and children playing, but bathing is strictly prohibited due to the dangerous currents. From Skagen to Grenen there are excellent cycling routes and it is possible to rent bicycles in town.
