A break from the city to seven destinations in the French Alps

In Val d’Isère, amongst high-altitude trails and cycle tours

Nestled at the headwaters of the Tarentaise, at the foot of the imposing Col de l’Iseran, lies the legendary Val d’Isère. In summer, this historic skiing mecca is transformed into an exceptional natural setting, where the unspoilt beauty of the Vanoise National Park meets the elegance of traditional architecture – a blend of local timber, stone and slate roofs – creating an authentic Savoyard Alpine charm. Hikers can explore high-altitude trails leading to glacial lakes and mountain passes, whilst cycling enthusiasts will find plenty to get their teeth into at the revamped bike park, linked to the one in Tignes. Highlights for the current season include new high-altitude e-bike packages and a series of guided tours dedicated to discovering Alpine wildlife, with a focus on ibex and bearded vultures. The commitment to sustainability is reflected in the summer pedestrianisation of the historic centre on certain days, ideal for strolling amongst exclusive boutiques, traditional bistros and high-end historic hotels.
