A break from the city to seven destinations in the French Alps
La Plagne: vast plateaus and a focus on families
Continuing along the Tarentaise Valley, directly opposite Les Arcs, lies La Plagne, renowned for its vast high-altitude plateaus and its family-friendly, adventure-filled atmosphere. Linked to its neighbouring resort by the majestic Vanoise Express (a double-decker cable car), the resort offers a vast high-altitude playground in summer, dominated by the Chiaupe Glacier at an altitude of 3,200 metres. Mountain bike and trail running enthusiasts can tackle spectacular trails winding through the valley’s woods and meadows. One of the major summer attractions is the Olympic bobsleigh track, reconfigured for thrilling summer descents, alongside adventure parks ideal for younger visitors. Looking ahead to 2026, La Plagne is focusing on green regeneration, launching new themed trails centred on Alpine biodiversity and expanding the electric transport network to connect different altitudes without the need for cars, in the spirit of an increasingly integrated form of tourism that respects the fragile local ecosystem.
