Castle holidays in Carinthia's historic palaces

Hotel Schloss Leonstain, the home of Brahms
Leonstain Castle owes its fame above all to an illustrious guest, who chose it as his home at the time when tourism on Lake Wörthersee was beginning to establish itself. Johannes Brahms came to Pörtschach in June 1877 and initially only wanted to stop off at Leonstain. Then he discovered his love for Pörtschach and stayed, composing a violin concerto and his Second Symphony there. Today, guests stay in Biedermeier-style rooms and suites and in the 'Leon' restaurant enjoy regional dishes prepared with organic ingredients from farmers in the Alpe-Adria region. In the hotel's surroundings, there is a beach with a restaurant. Rental bicycles and golf courses are available for guests.
