Dallo sci alle ciaspole, via alla stagione della neve in Lombardia
In Bormio and Santa Caterina on the slopes of the Champions
Even in Valtellina's most famous ski area, the ski season starts late (from 30 November to 6 December) due to the little snow that has arrived so far on the more than 180 km of slopes for alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding that make up the offer of three areas (accessible with a single ski pass) linked by a free bus, namely Bormio, Santa Caterina Valfurva and Cima Piazzi/San Colombano. Two, in particular, are the experiences not to be missed if you are well trained and prepared. The first is the famous Stelvio slope, considered one of the most technical and adrenalin-pumping slopes in the entire Alpine panorama and for years the scene of the World Cup downhill and Super G trials (this year scheduled for 28 and 29 December). The other gem of the area is the Deborah Compagnoni slope in Santa Caterina, dedicated to the Olympic champion who was born in the village: 3,700 metres long, it is equipped with a lighting system to experience the thrill of night skiing. Equally exciting are the two exclusive appointments (70 places are available) of Bormio 3000 Ski Sunrise and Bormio 3000 Sky Line, which include the ascent by cable car to the 3,012-metre Cima Bianca and from there the descent on skis at the crack of dawn to the village (at an altitude of 1,200 metres) or the excursion (day and night) with expert alpine guides along the mountain ridge to the summit of Vallecetta. For snowshoe lovers, other itineraries to consider are those of Val Viola and Val di Rezzalo, while cross-country skiing enthusiasts can head for the Pista Valtellina in Santa Caterina.
