When travelling rhymes with rows, tastings and wineries
In Monferrato for the Douja d'Or and beyond
There is still time until Sunday 21 September to experience at first hand the charm of the Douja d'Or, an event that lights up the centre of Asti at the height of the harvest season with tastings, master classes, show cooking, meetings and wine shows. The heart of the 2025 edition is Piazza San Secondo, symbolically transformed into a workshop of good drinking and a meeting point for local excellence and moments of entertainment open to all. Among the many appointments scheduled, not to be missed is the Wine Street Testing (on the 19th and 20th) set up in the streets and squares of the historic centre, where you can immerse yourself in the local culinary culture to discover its delicacies and flavours accompanied by the wines of this territory, starting with Asti and Canelli Docg and ending with the bubbles of Asti Spumante Metodo Classico. For those who want a further taste of Piedmontese wine tradition, an address to consider is Agricola Ferraris, in the municipality of Castagnole Monferrato. We are in the land of Ruchè and the museum dedicated to this red wine is one of the experiences to be had, along with a wine tasting with a view of the Unesco heritage hills and a stop at the Big Bench, the giant bench (the first of its kind in the North Tanaro Astigiano area) located on the hill of Sant'Eufemia, from which there is a priceless view of the vineyards and castles of Montemagno and Scurzolengo.
