The coats of arms of the cardinals: this is how the papabili present themselves to the world
Luis Antonio Tagle (1957), Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelisation
Motto: Dominus est (He is the Lord)
Scheme: The shield is divided into three parts. On the left is the alpha and omega with the figure of Jesus the Good Shepherd, with the lost sheep on his shoulders and holding a fisherman's net; on the right is a Corinthian column surmounted by the Marian monogram, a crown and twelve stars; at the bottom centre are two white lilies.
Message: Tagle, therefore, proposes a Church firm in its faith in the Lord Jesus, the beginning and end of all things, sustained by the fortitude of Mary, crowned Queen of Heaven and confident in divine providence. Observing the lilies of the field, in fact, Jesus said: 'They neither toil nor spin; but I say to you that not even Solomon, with all his glory, was clothed like one of them' (Matthew 6:28).
