The coats of arms of the cardinals: this is how the papabili present themselves to the world
Pablo Virgilio Siongco David (1959), Vice-President of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences
Motto: Kenosis (self-emptying)
Stemma: In the shield on the lower left a group of shadowy combatants is illuminated by a beam of white light culminating in a winged figure on a blue field, flanked by a sailboat, a long fishing net and a shoal of golden fish. On the right below is the mystical lamb pouring its blood into a cup, surmounted by the Greek letters alpha and omega written on the book of life. At the top, on a blue field, are the symbols of the Eucharistic Jesus in the radiant sun (left), the tree with the fiery fruits of the Holy Spirit (centre) and the M of Our Lady surrounded by twelve stars (right).
Message: Siongco David proposes a missionary, evangelising Church, which is not afraid of martyrdom and which relies on Mary and the Holy Spirit to bear fruits of love. The motto is a programme of life inspired by a famous passage of St Paul who, in the Letter to the Philippians (ch. 2:7) wrote about the incarnation of Jesus Christ, "being in the form of God" he emptied himself "taking the form of a slave".
