From the Ossola Valleys, with their typical snow-white alpine villages, to the charming towns overlooking Lakes Maggiore, Orta and Mergozzo, the historic villages of the Distretto Turistico dei Laghi are ready to host the numerous dates of the Christmas markets and its side events again this year. At the foot of Monte Rosa, in the enchanting village of Macugnaga, steeped in Walser culture, the warm and welcoming festive atmosphere brings to life the traditional handicrafts and local food and wine markets on the last weekend of November: an opportunity to admire and purchase Christmas decorations, wood carvings, handmade textiles, liqueurs, mountain herbs and much more, while also allowing oneself a tasty break by sampling culinary specialities such as traditional dairy products and mulled wine.(info Mercatini di Natale di Macugnaga) The 26th edition of the Macugnaga Christmas Market will take place in Santa Maria Maggiore, capital of the Vigezzo Valley, awarded the Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club since 2009. Streets and squares will be festively decorated and enriched by more than 210 red-roofed stalls and wooden chalets. The undisputed protagonists of these days will be the strictly artisanal products and craftsmanship of the exhibitors present, including over 40 food and wine producers from the Verbano Cusio Ossola province itself. The event will have a preview on Friday 5 December at 6.00 p.m., with a show that will feature songs by the White Spirit Gospel Choir and an original sand art performance. New for 2025: the 'Via della Musica', in Via Cadorna, with three music stations for engaging live performances (SMM Christmas Market).Domodossola, in its medieval historic centre 'Borgo della Cultura', offers a traditional Christmas market that stands out for the variety and quality of the products on display, in a route through red-roofed stalls offering handicrafts, creative hobbies and food and wine delicacies.
