Ten exciting adventures on the island of Ischia
Chic sunset at the Punta Imperatore Lantern
One has to descend along a serpentine rock and then a series of steps in a panoramic position above Citara beach to reach the white gate from which one has access to the Punta Imperatore lighthouse, which has stood 132 years at 164 metres above sea level. The Floatel hotel company has converted it into an accommodation facility, retaining not only the lantern capable of emitting a light visible up to 23 nautical miles away, but also part of the contraptions that enabled it to function before electrification and its remote control. You can also come up here just for an aperitif or dinner of cod, oysters, finger food. And especially to climb up onto its terrace at the very moment when the sun sets in the water, the lighthouse light comes on, the moon makes its appearance in the sky. Annalisa and Raffaele run this stone sentinel with the same passion that Lucia Capuano had, the legendary farista who lived here with her children. There is even an affable seagull to act as mascot. When night falls, you are awaited by Forio's movida: the restaurant L'isola sopra un costone di roccia is now the trendiest address, while the classic Umberto a mare is located just below the 14th-century Soccorso church. Not far from the castle of Ischia, there is Danì Maison of the artistic chef Nino Di Costanzo.
