Dining at Artema is now the most exhilarating gastro-architectural experience of the autumn in Basilicata. First and foremost, for the tasty choices made by chef Eduardo Estatico, who has managed to stitch together a plot combining his Campania region with surprising Lucanian ingredients. His attempt to interpret the theatricality of Eduardo De Filippo among the Matera stones is very successful, for example in the prawn eclair, the soufflé in purgatory and the soup of rock fish, terrine of sweet and sour summer vegetables, seaweed and Matera bread. The courteous wait staff then transforms this ancient house-flat from a cramped stone meander to an elegant and intimate refuge where one can let oneself go entirely to one's heart's content.
