Trentino’s Water Wonders: parks, lakes and adventures for the whole family
There is one element, amongst others, that clearly links the many tourist destinations across Trentino: water. It is this element that offers the most unique summer experiences, set amongst the vast natural parks and along trails where the landscape provides opportunities for discovery, sport and fun for all ages. In the Paneveggio Nature Park – Pale di San Martino, for example, the Foresta dei Violini (Forest of Violins) explores the link between resonance firs and violin-making through the immersive trail ‘Suona Foresta’, whilst Val Venegia offers excursions dedicated to spotting marmots and other Alpine wildlife. In the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, amongst lakes and mountain pastures, guided activities range from nature walks to screenings under the stars as part of the “SuperPark. Visioni d’Autore” project. Further west, the Stelvio National Park (on the Trentino side) takes visitors through woods and glaciers, transforming every walk into an opportunity to learn about the area. Water then becomes the ideal setting for actively experiencing the mountains. In Val di Fiemme, the Avisio stream and the trails at the foot of the Latemar complement the themed trails of the Foresta dei Draghi and the workshops for children run by the Nature Rangers. On the Garda Trentino side, meanwhile, the wind blowing between Riva and Torbole transforms the lake into a natural playground for windsurfing, wingfoiling, sailing and SUP, whilst canyoning and rafting enthusiasts can explore the gorges carved out by the water in the Rovella River Park in Val di Non and descend the streams of Val di Sole. For families, opportunities to combine fun and nature abound on Lakes Levico and Caldonazzo, with beach activities, gentle bike rides and canoe tours.
