500 million units in 76 years

Honda Moto has reached an important production milestone: 500 million vehicles produced; unit number half a billion is an Activa scooter, which rolled off the Indian production line at Plant 4 of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited in Vittalpur, Gujarat. The record comes 76 years after series production began with the historic D-Type in 1949. Honda started international production in 1963 in Belgium and has since then pursued the strategy of producing locally where there is demand. Thus, over the years, Honda has achieved historic growth targets: 100 million units in 1997, 200 million in 2008, 300 million in 2014, and 400 million in 2019. Despite the impact of the pandemic in 2020, demand quickly recovered, with new strategic trends: 2024 was the first year of global expansion for the electric two-wheeler range. Honda's current global production capacity exceeds 20 million units per year, distributed in 23 countries with 37 production facilities and a global network of over 30,000 official dealers. We retrace Honda's history through 10 of its iconic models.
