Honda Gold Wing (1975)
The Honda Gold Wing was born in 1975 as the GL1000 and was a naked, but in its 50-year career it redefined the concept of a touring motorbike. Its 4-cylinder boxer engine, shaft drive and remarkable comfort made it an instant success in the United States. Over time it grew to a six-cylinder 1,833 cc engine and became a true cruiser with a large fairing, airbags (since 2005), navigation, cruise control, heating and electric reverse. In the USA it is used by groups of motorcyclists known as 'Gold Wingers', who organise rallies and transcontinental trips. The latest generation, introduced in 2018, is more streamlined, technological and sporty, but retains the soul of uncompromising luxury and comfort.
