Honda Super Cub (1958)

The Super Cub and Monkey return to Honda’s European line-up

The Super Cub is not only Honda's best-selling vehicle, but the best-selling motor vehicle ever, with over 100 million units produced. It was born in 1958 from the vision of Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa, who wanted to offer an inexpensive, simple vehicle suitable for the inexperienced. Its small 49 cc engine, automatic clutch and comfortable driving position made it ideal for the mass audience. The 'You meet the nicest people on a Honda' campaign changed the perception of motorbikes in the western world, making them accessible to all. The Super Cub has had countless versions: from the C50 to the modern C125, which retains the classic design but with modern technologies such as electronic fuel injection and disc brakes. It is a motorbike that revolutionised mobility in developing countries, and has become a cultural icon in Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and even the USA. Even today, its production continues with great success.
