Honda D-Type (1949)
The D-Type was the first motorbike produced by Honda, the first in a series of models to bear the Dream name. Produced from 1949 to 1951, it was powered by a single-cylinder air-cooled two-stroke 98 cc engine with a power output of 3 hp; the engine was started with a decompressor-assisted kickstarter. The transmission was a semi-automatic two-speed unit that integrated the clutch with the gearstick pedal, the first ever on a motorbike. The front suspension used a telescopic fork, while the rear was rigid. The brakes were both drum brakes.
