A visit to the Uffizi and the Fashion and Costume Museum

Galleria degli Uffizi (Dario Garofalo)

If a life at the Uffizi is unmissable after almost five years of closure, the Museum of Fashion and Costume, located in the splendid setting of the Pitti Palace, can finally be visited: it is one of the most important Italian institutions dedicated to the history of costume and fashion. Among sumptuous dresses, accessories, jewellery and historical costumes, the collection boasts more than 15,000 pieces the theatrical cloak-kimono created by Mariano Fortuny for Eleonora Duse, the 'flapper' tunic dating back to the 1920s and signed by Chanel, the luxurious and regal creations by Emilio Schubert but also the extravagant dresses of Patty Pravo made by Gianni Versace in the 1980s.
