The Epiphany Train

The eagerly awaited Befana will also arrive in Tuscany, appearing as a surprise on the roofs of the tallest monuments in cities such as Pistoia and Florence, but also on board a magic train. On 6 January 2025, a historic convoy of railway carriages known as the "Befana Train" will leave in the morning from the Santa Maria Novella Station for San Piero a Sieve in Mugello, passing through Pontassieve and up the entire Sieve Valley. This is a journey on board a historic steam train, pulled by a 1920s locomotive and with perfectly restored 'centoporte' carriages from the 1930s. Pulled by a steam locomotive, after a brief stop, it will resume its journey towards Florence, travelling along the Faentina line and returning to Santa Maria Novella in the afternoon.
