Gantrisch Nature Park: the spectacle of the starry sky

Foto della Via Lattea nel Parco Nazionale del Gantrisch.

Situated in the triangle between Bern, Thun and Fribourg, the Gantrisch Park combines dense forests and deep gorges with a unique ecological approach, focused on reducing light pollution, which has earned it the title of ‘Dark Sky Park’. One of the main attractions is the Space Eye, a state-of-the-art observatory designed by architect Mario Botta, equipped with Switzerland’s largest public telescope for gazing at the night sky. By day, Gantrisch offers plenty to enjoy for families and walkers thanks to the Gäggersteg themed trail – a wooden walkway through the treetops – and the scenic route, which is ideal for cycling. For a tasty break, the Mäder family’s alpine dairy and the “Irmas Mahlwerk” bistro at the Dittligmühle serve excellent alpine cheeses and regional specialities.
