Ten stops to discover the greenest side of Switzerland
Jorat Nature Park: the forest on the outskirts of Lausanne
The Jorat Park holds the distinction of being the first peri-urban nature park in French-speaking Switzerland, situated just a short distance from the urban area of Lausanne. This extensive forested area, dominated by majestic oak and beech woods, serves as the region’s green lung, ideal for those seeking a rejuvenating getaway without straying too far from the comforts of city life. The hiking trails and flat cycle paths are particularly well-suited to families and cycle tourists wishing to cycle at a leisurely pace. Near the park, amongst the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, ‘The Clay’ – an innovative design hotel in Puidoux, built from stone, wood and clay, featuring a state-of-the-art wellness centre and magnificent views over Lake Geneva – is set to open by the end of 2026.
