With more than 16,000 kilometres of marked routes throughout the country, Denmark offers accessible and diverse ways to explore at a slower pace: from city cycling in Copenhagen to coastal routes, islands and country escapes. In the capital, you can venture along The Harbour Circle (13 km), a route along Copenhagen's harbour that is ideal for exploring on foot or by bike and passes through lively neighbourhoods and quieter areas such as Christianshavn and Sydhavn, past contemporary architecture, houseboats and green spaces overlooking the water. Or you can do the Ørnbjergruten (34 km) in the Mols Bjerge National Park, a route offering undulating landscapes shaped by the Ice Age, lakes and historical monuments in one of Denmark's most scenic natural areas. Then there is Castle Route 48 (75 km), which links Kronborg Castle and Frederiksborg Castle, passing through the Par Force hunting landscape of North Sealand, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then there is Læsø, a cycling route on the island (118 km), consisting of small quiet roads, numerous cycle paths and a natural landscape with no major differences in altitude. Also not to be missed is Panoramic Route 42, a route on the island of Møn through UNESCO biosphere landscapes and leading to the striking white cliffs of Møn.
