Between Alpine Lakes and Bathing Trails

Those with legs and who want to discover the landscape of the high peaks are spoilt for choice among the trails available: one of these leads to the Canziani Refuge, which overlooks the highest reservoir (we are at an altitude of 2561 metres) in the entire Val d'Ultimo, the Lago Verde (Green Lake). Less demanding, but equally suggestive, are other itineraries in the valley, starting with the San Pancrazio Bathing Path, which starts at the dam of Lake Zoccolo in Santa Valburga and meanders along the Valsura stream (at one time, there were bathing establishments here that were also frequented by Austrian nobility, including Princess Sissi), or the Proves Nature Trail, which runs for 5 km between South Tyrol and Trentino through forests, meadows and alpine pastures. To enjoy the natural spectacle at the 2650-metre altitude of Lake Quaira, on the other hand, it is absolutely recommended to take the cable car from the valley station in the hamlet of Pracupola.
