However, one of the best known attractions of the Masi trail is the natural monument of the thousand-year-old larches near the Lärchengarten hut restaurant, a spectacle of floral resilience that literally leaves you speechless.three giant trees are present (the circumference of the largest one reaches 8.2 m and the height reaches 28 m), whose age has been estimated at thousands of years, although recent research indicates their date of birth in the mid-12th century, when pilgrimages to places of worship (such as the church of St. Gertrude) were increasingly frequent. Not far from the larch trees (and the Oberhausgut farmstead) is a small tavern, Hofschank bei den Urlärchen: crossing the threshold, one enters a completely wood-panelled environment in which furnishings, old relics, patrons and culinary specialities immerse the visitor in an atmosphere that is emblematic of a truly authentic South Tyrol that is increasingly difficult to find;
