Events, experiences and more: Journey to Olympic venues 'away' from the competitions
In 'Little Tibet' to treat yourself to wellness and snow in freedom
After crossing the Foscagno Pass and leaving behind the municipality of Trepalle, the highest in Europe at 2,079 metres above sea level and the perfect starting point for snowshoeing in the unspoilt landscape that looks towards Val Trela and Valle Alpisella, we descend towards the second Lombardy queen of the Games, Livigno, the scene of the freestyle skiing and snowboarding competitions (for men and women, for a total of 26 laurels up for grabs) in the two ski areas of Mottolino and Carosello 3000. The village will be able to experience the thrills of acrobatic skiing and snowboarding in the "live site" set up along Via Isola, near the Snow Park, while the most avid fans cannot miss the daily appointment (from 8 to 22 February) with the Champions Celebrations, moments dedicated to the celebration of the medals awarded in Livigno. Competitions aside, one can experience the "Little Tibet" for its status as a duty-free zone and therefore an ideal destination for shopping, outdoor activities (an outing on electric fat-bikes when the sun shines on the snowy valley floor or paragliding is in itself an experience worth the trip) and wellness. The right address for those in search of pampering is the Alpine Wellness Acquagranda, where you can relax between a breezy sauna session and a swim in the pool. Livigno is also an ideal destination for taking your first steps in ski mountaineering by going uphill on seal skins and for launching yourself into fresh snow in total safety thanks to a series of cleared and monitored trails, or try the relaxing experience of walking and trekking in the company of the llamas and alpacas at the La Tresenda farmhouse.
