Events, experiences and more: Journey to Olympic venues 'away' from the competitions
The 'Cultural Olympiad' is staged in Madesimo and Aprica
During the period of the Games, the entire Valtellina and Sondrio province will enter a special dimension, combining the appeal of the sporting event with the expression of local community values. On the afternoon of 31 January, the Olympic Flame will arrive in Valchiavenna and Madesimo, where the torchbearers' race will be broadcast live on a giant screen in the central Piazza Garibaldi. Also in the village, until 8 February, there will be an itinerant exhibition with photographs, videos and testimonies on the exploits of the Italian and Valtellina athletes, while from 31 January to 7 March, a series of meetings with Olympic and Paralympic champions is scheduled (the first in the series is with former rainbow slalom racer Giuliano Razzoli). Another well-known location for ski enthusiasts in the Valtellina, Aprica, invites fans to visit the Ski and Mountain Museum in Corso Roma, where they can get excited in front of the first wooden racing ski models, with historical pieces such as the 1890 tools that belonged to Zeno Colò.
