Events, experiences and more: Journey to Olympic venues 'away' from the competitions

6/12Weekend

In Sondrio and Teglio to learn about the Games between art and cuisine

For those who love the comforts of a city, a 'live site' is also organised in the heart of Sondrio (also in Piazza Garibaldi) to watch the competitions in an atmosphere enlivened by typical food and wine products and sporting and cultural entertainment. An exhibition of the most iconic images of the Olympic torches and braziers is on display at the Palazzo Pretorio (until 8 February), while at the MVSA - Museo Valtellinese di Storia e Arte, one can travel with the imagination by admiring (until 3 May) the works of snow-covered landscapes that have inspired Italian artists from the end of the 19th century to the present day. In nearby Teglio, the renowned home of pizzoccheri (historic restaurants such as Hotel Combolo or Albergo La Rosa serve the original recipe for this dish with plenty of Valtellina Casera DOP), Olympic culture is on stage from 27 January to 30 August in the frescoed Renaissance-era rooms of Palazzo Besta, with the exhibition 'VETTE. Histories of sport and mountains', a journey through the history of the Winter Games, from the first edition in Chamonix in 1924 to the imminent appointment in Milan Cortina 2026 and dedicated to the relationship between sport, the Alpine territory and society, with historical posters, photographs, Olympic and Paralympic relics and ethnographic materials.
