Planeta, the taste of the earth in the family's gastronomic vision

It is an all-round project that spans hospitality, cuisine and landscape that the Planeta family is pursuing, starting with wine. Cuisine has always been the language of the family, at the big lunches when we all get together, and it is the language chosen to tell the story of Sicily. At La Foresteria, the wine resort's restaurant, chef Angelo Pumilia brings forward a proposal balanced between innovation and roots, bringing together Casa Planeta recipes and contemporary interpretations on the plate. Two tasting courses - one dedicated to historical recipes, the other to seasonal suggestions - shape a gastronomic narrative that evolves with time, but does not forget where it comes from. Even the wine list is designed as a narrative. Cooking classes for young and old, shared dinners at the Country House, aperitifs by the pool and lunches with feet in the sand at the Insula Beach Club - open from June to September - are opportunities to recognise a culture in the flavours, and perhaps also to rediscover a certain idea of conviviality. This is the idea of a 'diffuse resort' that the Planeta family has developed in Menfi: a set of experiences distributed in space and time, in which each guest can build his or her own path.

This is a five-century-long history that through 17 generations has become excellence in the art of wine and then in hospitality. The first labels date back to 1995, 14 years later the Sicilian Planeta family decided to devote its energy also to hospitality with the launch in 2009 of La Foresteria Wine Resort, followed in 2017 by Palazzo Planeta in Palermo and in 2024 by the Country House.
