Towards Alpe Meggiana and the Piode cheese factory
From the village of Piode, you take a path that climbs gently up to the Alpe Meggiana. There, in summer, the cattle graze freely and raw milk alpine cheeses are produced, including fresh and matured tome, artisanal butter and smoked ricotta. All of this can be purchased in the valley, at the Caseificio di Piode, which has been offering the best cheese products in Valsesia for 70 years. Don't miss the Macagn, the host cheese and slow food presidium.
