From Piedmont to Friuli, the pleasure of skiing (and snowshoeing) in the March sunshine

2/11Weekend

On the Milky Way 20 years after the 2006 Turin Olympics

It is the largest ski area in Piedmont with about 400 km of skiable trails, 80% of which are located above 1900 metres and served by more than 70 ski lifts and spread over more than 300 slopes distributed between the stations of Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Montiluna Claviere, Cesana Sansicario and Monginevro, between Mount Fraiteve and the Monti della Luna. As of this year, it is also directly connected with Bardonecchia thanks to the Vialattea//Bardo Ski Shuttle with free service from Sauze d'Oulx from Thursday to Sunday (until 15 March) with several daily runs. Those who choose these resorts for their latest snow experience, this year particularly abundant as in all the Eastern Alps, have the opportunity to take a virtual plunge into the past, to the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics, held precisely on the mountains of the Vialattea. Sestriere and Cesana Torinese (where the bobsleigh competitions were held on the famous Pariol slope, now disused) with Sansicario are the home of alpine skiing, and it is in this hamlet that a new Club Med will open its doors (in December 2028), which will be built at an altitude of 1,700 metres next to the slopes between the arrival station of the Cesana-Ski Lodge gondola and the departure station of the Ski Lodge - La Sellette chairlift.
