Start of the snow season in Trentino Alto Adige: where to go and all the news
Black slopes, good food and museums at Plan de Corones
Ski and board enthusiasts will be pleasantly surprised by the improvement of the Mittelstation, Pramstall and Gipfel slopes thanks to the installation of new snow cannons. For the rest, the Plan de Corones (Kronplatz in German) will present itself at the opening of the season with its well-known rounded profile and its wide, almost treeless slopes where 121 km of slopes run (75% are red or blue, while for the more experienced the attraction are the so-called "Black Five", including the famous Erta di San Vigilio, which will host the Women's World Cup in January) served by more than 30 lifts. It starts on 29 November and until 19 April, it will be possible to ascend to the summit at 2,275 metres above sea level with a panoramic view of the peaks of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. Those who love activities on the snow can enjoy snowshoeing and ski mountaineering, while for the less sporty, the two museums of Plan de Corones, the Messner Mountain Museum and the Lumen - Museum of Mountain Photography, are a must-see attraction. Finally, lovers of good food, folklore and top-class hospitality will be spoilt for choice: from typical mountain huts to starred restaurants such as AlpiNN, from ski tours with tasting (the Speck & Wine Emotion, scheduled from 29 January to 26 March) to the traditional Christmas markets of Brunico (from 28 November to 6 January) to the wellness area with the suggestive infinity pool on the roof of the Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort of San Vigilio di Marebbe, which offers promotions for free nights and ski passes from 5 to 20 December.
