Start of the snow season in Trentino Alto Adige: where to go and all the news
In Val Senales where skiing is already underway and 50 years are celebrated
Concerts, DJ sets, Sundowner-Party and Ski Test. These are some of the ingredients of the big party that the Alpin Arena Senales is organising from 19 to 23 November to celebrate the start of the season in which it also marks its 50th anniversary. In fact, since 19 September, as every year, a number of pistes on the glacier have been open on the third weekend of September, while the Gurschler and Gletschersee pistes, and then the Finail pistes, have also been available since mid-October. From 29 November, the ski area will be available to everyone, between 2,011 and 3,212 metres above sea level, guaranteeing a unique experience for fans of all levels. Between Maso Corto and the glacier, there are more than 1,200 metres of difference in altitude where you can do many activities in addition to skiing and snowboarding, such as cross-country skiing, spectacular hikes or snowshoeing in fresh snow. For alpine skiers, there are more than 42 km of downhill runs and 11 ski lifts, with challenging, medium or easy tracks to improve your technique. Even during the February Olympics, you can ski while enjoying wide open spaces, without crowded slopes. Cross-country skiing, on the other hand, offers opportunities with two trails, including one on the glacier, about 7 km long, at an altitude of almost 3,000 metres, ideal for training in the autumn and often chosen by national teams to prepare for the winter season. With the opening (in December) of the second cross-country track, which is located in Lazaun, the glacier track will close. The track in Lazaun is about 3 km long and is located at an altitude of 2,400 metres, it is a scenic track and also suitable for a walk in the snow. The Alpin Arena Senales also offers many opportunities such as the ice grotto (with an alpine guide) at 2,700 metres to admire the light that, upon entering, reflects off the smooth walls, making them glow in various shades of blue. Inside the cave, impressive ice stalactites several metres long hang from the ceiling. The Senales Alpine Arena and the Val Senales Ski School will remain open until 10 May 2026.
