Start of the snow season in Trentino Alto Adige: where to go and all the news
From the Sella group to Sas dla Crusc, Alta Badia in a ski pass
Stunning scenery, perfect pistes, top-class hospitality: and skiing is served. The slogan that accompanies the start of the winter season in Alta Badia may seem excessive, but it is also difficult to find different adjectives. Starting from the 4th of December, ski enthusiasts can find something beyond the 53 interconnected ski lifts and the 130 km of accessible slopes between Corvara, Colfosco (where the 6-seater chairlift going up to the 2,122 metres of the Forcelles refuge will be in operation), San Cassiano, La Villa and Badia and the Campolongo, Falzarego and Gardena passes. We are in the heart of the Dolomiti Superski area and in the Sellaronda ring: from Piz Boé to Sassongher, from Sas dla Crusc to Gran Risa (the famous World Cup slope) to the Parallel Slalom trails on the Pre dai Corf slope to compete between the gates, in Alta Badia snow and skiing are always synonymous with spectacle. And if the view is delighted by the Pralongià plateau with its panorama that sweeps from the Marmolada to the Austrian peaks, satisfying to the taste buds are the many gastronomic proposals that enliven the life of mountain huts and restaurants at high altitudes. Also contributing to the charm of this ski area are the splendid Val Stella Alpina (a sunny basin surrounded by the peaks of Sassongher and Ciampac) with views of the Sella and Val Mezdí, the tranquil La Crusc, the Tru Liösa Foram toboggan run at Piz Sorega and the San Cassiano cross-country centre. And then, when the sun goes down and the Dolomites are tinged with pink, silence takes over to give the emotion of what the locals call 'Enrosadira', a term that can be translated as immensity.
