Start of the snow season in Trentino Alto Adige: where to go and all the news
Night skiing, design locations and nature in the Latemar Dolomites
Obereggen, a resort 20 minutes from Bolzano (Bolzano Nord motorway A22 Autostrada del Brennero), one of the hearts of the Latemar Dolomites ski area (with its Trentino sisters Pampeago and Predazzo), will be the first of the 12 valleys of the Dolomiti Superski international ski carousel to open its turnstiles. The appointment is for Friday 28 November at 8.30 a.m. with the first daytime skiing. And then from 7 p.m., as every Tuesday and Friday, the Dolomite slopes of the Latemar ski area in Obereggen will light up for skiing under the stars, whizzing on toboggans and performing freestyle acrobatics at the Nightpark until 10 p.m. And then final party at the Apres Ski LOOX down the historic Oberholz slope. From Saturday, 29 November 2025 at 8.30 a.m. the lifts and slopes of Obereggen, Pampeago and Predazzo and their connections will be opened. It will be possible to ski and night-ski in Obereggen until 27 March 2026 (the season will end on 12 April 2026). One of the new additions to the area is the Absam Stube, a historic refreshment and resting place for thousands of enthusiasts in the area, near the valley station of the Absam-Maierl chairlift (1732 metres above sea level), which will be transformed into a "completely renovated" restaurant. Throughout the Val D'Ega, which also includes the nearby Carezza area (opening on 6 December), there is also room for those who are looking for breathtaking descents but do not like skiing or snowboarding: this area, which is also famous for its vocation for sledging, dedicates no less than four slopes of varying lengths to this subject, from the 800 metres of the Absam slope to the 980 metres of the Alpine Coaster Gardonè, up to the 1.2 km of the Hubertus slope in Carezza and the 2.5 km of the Epircher Laner hut slope. For those who wish to experience nature and sustainability, there is the Active Winter Weeks package. At the foot of the imposing Catinaccio and Latemar Dolomites, happiness takes shape with more than 100 km of cross-country ski runs, 150 km of winter hiking and snowshoeing trails, hikes and a package including 7 nights stay, Guest Pass with 7 days free ski bus and public transport in Alto Adige.
