Start of the snow season in Trentino Alto Adige: where to go and all the news
New lifts and lots of excitement in Val di Fassa and Carezza
This year in the Trentino area that has made Italian skiing history, all eyes are on the new Campitello-Col Rodella tri-cable gondola lift, which replaces the historic cable car after forty years of service. A true technological jewel built by Doppelmayr for the Società Incremento Turistico di Canazei, it represents the most modern 3S system in Italy and will guarantee a more efficient, sustainable transport system capable of eliminating queues and streamlining traffic in the direction of Canazei, with Campitello as the privileged access point to the Belvedere-Col Rodella ski area and the Sellaronda circuit. High-tech news on the lifts front also in Carezza, with the Franzin gondola lift, the first in Italy equipped with the LeitPilot system. Don't miss the Rosengarten Tour to admire the Catinaccio from different vantage points (35 km of slopes): starting from Carezza, cross the Val di Fassa - from Buffaure, with its maxi works of land art, to Ciampac, up to the Belvedere-Col Rodella ski area - and then reach Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusi and back. And for those who don't renounce walking even in winter at Ciampac, there is a 3-kilometre panoramic snowshoe trail, at 2,000 metres, which winds its way through a sunny basin, from which one can admire the Sella Group and the majestic Piz Boè. Every Wednesday and Friday it is possible to walk it with the accompaniment of an alpine guide, and on Monday 22 December, 5 January and 26 January also at sunset, with a final aperitif. The walk to Gardeccia, below the Vajolet Towers, is also fascinating. To welcome with the right dose of adrenalin the return to the snow, on 6 December there will be a "thrilling" appointment with the "Krampus on the slope" between the Ciampac and Buffaure ski areas to celebrate the traditions of the area, precisely on St. Nicholas Day. Not to be missed are the Trentino Ski Sunrise events, in which you can experience the thrill of sunrise on the slopes together with the ski instructors and then warm up in the mountain hut with a hearty breakfast (13 December, Monday 5 January, Friday 23 January in the Buffaure ski area) and the numerous sporting events, including the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup with the penultimate races of the season: 7 and 8 March on the spectacular La VolatA, in the San Pellegrino Ski Area.
