Three Peaks Dolomites: Winter in the name of slow tourism

Tre Cime Dolomiti, Misurina

The pleasure of skiing and above all the privilege of 'slow' experiences in the inimitable scenery of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the Belluno Dolomites. Auronzo and Misurina, once again, open the winter season under the banner of a winter tourism model that favours quieter settings, genuine hospitality, and less anthropised natural landscapes than the large ski resorts. For the new season, the Consorzio Turistico Tre Cime Dolomiti (Three Peaks Dolomites Tourist Board) has in any case carried out a number of interventions to improve the offer of ski lifts (with additional ski lifts and moving walkways at Braies, Passo Monte Croce and Waldheim) and to strengthen the artificial snow system. The Monte Agudo ski area, easily reached from Auronzo, offers an environment suitable for families and beginners with 20 km of slopes (mostly red) and easy access to ski and snowboard school camps with qualified instructors. In Misurina, the Col de Varda facilities allow skiing from December to Easter at between 1,700 and 2,100 metres on slopes exposed to the sun, but there is no shortage of opportunities for those who love alternative disciplines to alpine skiing, such as the two cross-country skiing trails of 4 and 5 km and the numerous snowshoeing routes, with groomed and marked trails immersed in the woods. For families, fun is also guaranteed along the toboggan runs that descend from the Tre Cime and Monte Piana, with a snowmobile shuttle service from Lago Antorno and Misurina and on-site rentals.
